Stonehenge

Stonehenge, near the village of Amesbury and 120 kilometers from London, is a famed European prehistoric monument believed to have been constructed roughly 5,000 or 4,000 years ago. The site, covering an area of about 11 hectares, features a circle of standing bluestones, each weighing around 50 tons.

What makes Stonehenge a world wonder is that its axis and trilithons can be aligned with the rising sun on Midsummer's Day.

In August 2013, archeologists discovered at least 63 human skeletons at the site and based on this, they speculated that it was a burial place at first, and about 100 years later, stones began to be erected there. Recently, some British experts have pointed out the structure may be an altar, and many ancient civilizations across the world had similar ones.
