LONDON - Masters champion Yan Bingtao from China lost his second-round match against Shaun Murphy 13-7 at the Snooker World Championship on Monday.

Yan, 21, trailed Murphy 10-6 before Monday's final session. The world number 10 didn't show any signs of a comeback, losing two frames in a row to leave Murphy one frame away from victory at 12-6.

The Chinese hopeful, who beat veteran John Higgins in the final at this year's Masters, then pulled one back with a break of 71, but couldn't stop Murphy from wrapping it up in the next frame.

Talking about his upcoming battle against Judd Trump in the quarterfinals, Murphy said: "I'm really excited about it. If you are going to win tournaments like this, they all have to get knocked out at some stage. "

Trump reached the last eight after defeating David Gilbert 13-8, while three-time world champion Mark Selby set up a quarterfinal clash against Mark Williams after beating Mark Allen 13-7.

Stuart Bingham will face Anthony McGill, and Neil Robertson plays Kyren Wilson.
