China handles over 3600 molestation cases on public transport in 2024

Chinese police solved more than 3,600 cases involving molestation and privacy violations against passengers on subways and buses in 2024, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen safety in these areas, the Ministry of Public Security said on Friday.
Public security authorities nationwide have intensified patrols within the transportation system last year, deploying additional police forces during peak travel periods to effectively maintain public order and ensure passenger safety, the ministry said.
Police officers also visited subway and bus companies over 58,000 times last year, identifying and eliminating more than 46,000 security loopholes and conducting over 15,000 safety training sessions.
