A seminar was held in Altay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, to share thoughts on neighboring regions' recent development.

Co-hosted by the CITIC Foundation for Reform and Development Studies and School of Journalism and Communication, Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics, the three-day seminar starting from July 10 attracted over 60 scholars and students.

In a video address, Kong Dan, chairman of the foundation, highlighted Xinjiang's strategic importance in China's relations with its neighboring countries, adding that Xinjiang holds unique geographical, cultural and policy advantages. Kong expressed hope that the seminar would promote Xinjiang's further opening-up, enhance interdisciplinary academic exchange, and contribute valuable insights to support the region's development.

Li Xiguang, former executive vice dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University, said Altay holds a significant strategic position and it is a key section of multiple Silk Road routes, and also discussed the strategic importance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway.

As part of the seminar, experts also visited the Jeminay Port for field research, where they held discussions with representatives from joint inspection units and foreign trade enterprises. The visit aimed to gain a deeper understanding of port trade operations.
