In the depths of the Alar Grassland near Huatugou town, Mangya, Qinghai province, lies Aiken Spring. This unique sulfur spring, over 10 meters in diameter, seems to stare up at the sky like the pupil of the earth’s eye. With its high sulfur content, no vegetation can grow around it, earning it the Mongolian name “the terrifying spring”. Yet from the air, its emerald-green waters embedded in the Gobi resemble a mesmerizing eye, making it a viral sensation in recent years, the famed “eye of the earth”.
