BEIJING - Senior leader Li Changchun on Sunday urged the All-China Journalists Association (ACJA) to make more efforts in guiding the country's journalists to promote social justice, express people's ideas and ensure supervision by public opinions.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with the leaderships of the 7th and 8th councils of the ACJA.

"As our country's cultural reform has entered a new phase, media workers should play a key role in cultural communication and improve the quality of their publicity work," Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, said Sunday.

Liu urged the ACJA to conduct deep research on the new situation and problems faced by the country's journalists and protect their legal rights.
