Altogether 10,000 kilograms of live fish have been removed from a pond in a park of Foshan, Guangdong province and buried on a mountain near a landfill site, the southern metropolis daily reported.

Under pressure of citizens' complaints about dead fish in the pond, the park organizer concluded after observation that the large number of fish overload the pond's ecosystem. So they resort to the economic way, netting and then burying, to deal with it.

But an employee admitted that they hadn't done any scientific investigation before.

The fish are not edible, as the water quality of the pond fails to meet standard, experts said.
