Beijing police deny holding list of 120 drug scandal celebs

(ECNS) Updated: 2014-08-22 16:10

Beijing police dispelled the rumor that they held a list of 120 drug scandal celebrities involving Hong Kong and Taiwan show biz or that a crackdown was imminent via its official Sina Weibo account "pinganbeijing" on Friday morning.

It was widely reported online that Jackie Chan's son Jaycee Chan ratted on his friends to secure a lighter penalty.

The police insisted that they have been fighting illegal drug-related crimes on the basis of facts.

Jaycee Chan and Kai Ko, a Taiwan actor, were caught on August 14 smoking marijuana in Beijing. Police later seized more than 110g of the drug in Chan's downtown apartment.

Chan has been put in criminal detention for aiding and abetting other drug users while Ko, in administrative detention, will be released on August 27.
