TAIPEI -- Multiple survey results released Saturday to mark Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen's 100th day in office revealed her approval rate fell below 50 percent.

According to poll results published in Saturday's edition of the United Daily News, 42 percent of respondents said they were satisfied with Tsai's performance in office, while 36 percent of respondents expressed their dissatisfaction.

The poll, which was conducted by telephone between Aug 24 and 26, also showed that about 46 percent of respondents were dissatisfied with Tsai's handling of cross-Straits relations, with some 34 expressing approval.

A poll conducted by the China Times revealed on Saturday that only 41.4 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with Tsai's performance, while 40.4 percent were dissatisfied.

Tsai's approval rate was down 11.1 points from a previous survey by the China Times conducted on May 20, when she took office.

According to another poll by Taiwan Thinktank, her approval rate dropped to 48.5 percent from 52.4 percent in early June. About 38.4 percent of respondents were dissatisfied with Tsai, and 30.5 percent were not satisfied with her performance in handling cross-Straits ties, the poll results showed.
