Tencent is bringing some new tunes to the Chinese Mainland.

The Chinese internet giant has struck a deal with Sony Music Entertainment to legally distribute the company's audio catalogue in China.

The new deal gives Tencent rights to music by Chinese performers like Lang Lang and Johanna Wang.

The web giant will also have the rights to overseas acts like Lady Gaga and Sia, who recently got a Grammy nomination for her hit song, "Chandeliers"

Tencent will also promote Sony's artists through its online and social media platforms, such as WeChat and QQ.

QQ Music has 100 million monthly active users, while the QQ chat platform has about 820 million, according to Tencent's data.

The web giant recently inked similar deals with US-based Warner Music and Korean talent agency YG entertainment, which has a roster of hit K-pop acts, such as Psy.
