A three-month exhibition of ancient Chinese musical instruments opens Thursday at the Southern Song Dynasty Guan Kiln Museum in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province.

More than 162 objects from the Henan Museum will be showcased at the exhibition, among which are 14 items that are first-class culture relics, like a Jiahu bone flute.

The Jiahu bone flute, the treasure of the Henan Museum, was unearthed in Jiahu village, Wuyang county of Central China's Henan province. Archaeologists said that it has a history of more than 8,000 years, making it the oldest musical instrument discovered in China.

Some other items, like a pistol-shaped panpipe of the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC) and pottery figurines of a song and dance troupe of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) are also highlights of the exhibition.
