English.news.cn | Updated: 2013-11-21 10:53

The prices of farm produce in 36 major Chinese cities experienced a slight rebound in the week ending Nov 17 compared with the previous week, a Ministry of Commerce statement said Tuesday.

The average wholesale prices of meat edged up, with pork, beef and mutton gaining 0.4 percent, 0.5 percent and 0.9 percent respectively, the ministry said.

The average prices of aquatic products went up 0.3 percent, while the cost of eggs remained flat from a week earlier.

The prices of 18 kinds of vegetables continued to drop last week, down 0.5 percent from a week earlier, the MOC said

Food accounts for about one third of China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation.

The CPI grew 3.2 percent year on year in October, up from 3.1 percent in September, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
