A symposium on enhancing cross-Straits media cooperation was held in Pingtan, Fujian province on Aug 17, local news portal ptnet.cn reported.

More than 20 online media workers from mainland and Taiwan gathered at the meeting and discussed how to integrate Internet resources.

Pingtan is an experimental zone for cross-Straits cooperation and is now a convenient traffic transfer point between the mainland and Taiwan, said Lin Jiangling, deputy director of Pingtan’s administration.

Lin added that he hopes the symposium can boost the development of online media and leads to an increasing number of coverage on Pingtan by Taiwan online media.

Ke Bochang, vice chairman of the Kaohsiung E-commerce Association, appreciated Pingtan’s preferential policies for Taiwas investors, and hoped that the symposium can become a regular basis for better communication.
