Recently, some 30 Chinese mergansers, and endangered East Asian sea duck, were spotted in the reserve, causing to staff members to highlight that they are considered national treasures and should be protected.

During Bird Loving Week, fliers were handed out in villages and schools across Tian'e county, promoting bird species identification and conservation.

It is hoped that local residents will be inspired by the campaign and help to protect the natural environment and wildlife.

Located in Tian'e county of Hechi city, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Longtan Nature Reserve covers an area of 42,848 hectares. With abundant rivers and grasslands, it provides an ideal habitat for many wild birds.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
