After the city of Anshun, in Guizhou province carried 3,500 books to the village of Yaozhai, on Dec 1, it quickly got a good response from the villagers, who have 145 neighbors living in poverty who are trying their best to rise up in life.

A staff member of the group involved in rural poverty relief, Wu Baocheng, in commenting on the positive effect of the books, said, "Those book donations cover a range of things, from disease prevention to law and regulations to breeding techniques and we will continue to increase the number in the village library."

Wu went on to say that the book-donation has a positive influence on both the village economy and people's spiritual life, and, "To develop industry in this village, knowledge is a big help."
