A delegation from Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL), a Seoul-based testing and certification organization, visited Qingdao on May 8 to explore the possibility of setting up a testing and certification firm in the eastern Chinese coastal city.

The delegation examined Qingdao's investment environment, and had discussions with the city's officials on the feasibility of establishing a wholly foreign-owned import-export commodity testing and certification organization in the city.

Zhang Li, deputy head of Qingdao's Commerce Bureau, and Zhang Jianjun, head of the Qingdao Investment Promotion Bureau, had in-depth discussions with the guests and gave them details about establishing a business entity in the city and relevant application procedures.

Song Jae-bin, chief executive officer of KCL, said the company would make Qingdao the bridgehead for its entry into the Chinese market, and would push ahead with the project.

After the meeting, the delegation made inspection tours of the city and its industrial parks in consideration for the location of the project.

KCL offers one-stop testing and analysis services in the areas of safety, construction materials, and consumer products, among others. It has more than 600 employees in over 20 branches across South Korea.
