The Hollywood film The Great Wall, directed by Chinese director Zhang Yimou is being shot in the Lingshanwan Film/TV Studio in Qingdao West Coast New Area, according to qdcaijing.com.

The Great Wall is a foreign film with the largest investment in China to date, as well as the first Hollywood film shot in the Lingshanwan Film/TV Studio.

With a total investment of more than 120 billion yuan ($19.34 billion), the film/TV studio includes 11 programs, like the film and television industry park. Now the studio is still under construction.

"In addition to first-rate hardware facilities, the studio's position and services played an important part in attracting the Hollywood film," said a director of West Coast Development Group.

"After repeated analyses, we decide to select screen culture as a driver in the area," he added.

To speed up the film and television industry, the government founded a special fund to invest in excellent works and subsidize those filmed in Qingdao.

To guarantee that shooting runs smoothly, Qingdao West Coast New Area set up a team to assist the film crew in coordinating and communicating, and offer all-round services.

Additionally, the natural and cultural scenery in the New Area contributes to drawing the crew. The islands, bays, coastlines, as well as the Great Wall of the Qi State (386-221 BC) are attractive.
