Shanxi province has five more modern agriculture demonstration zones at the national level now, according to the Shanxi Department of Agriculture on March 30.

Three cities and two counties in the province were newly-listed in the third batch of national modern agriculture demonstration zones, including the cities of Changzhi, Gaoping and Jinzhong and the counties of Dingxiang and Quwo. Together with Datong’s Nanjiao district, Yanhu district of Yuncheng and Taigu county, Shanxi has eight such demonstration zones in total to date.

The five new demonstration zones have their own plans with funds granted from national coffers.

Changzhi will develop a national corn industry demonstration zone and a sample zone of the vegetable industry. Jinzhong sets hands on high-efficiency agriculture; while the city of Gaoping will develop a new model of cyclic agriculture.

The two counties will work to create new agriculture operation systems to achieve scale operation.
