Zhou, chief justice and president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China, welcomed the president of the Supreme Court of Peru and signed a memorandum of understanding with his counterpart.

Zhou briefly introduced the organization of China's courts and latest reforms.

He said that China's comprehensive judicial reform is aimed at "letting people feel the justice and fairness in every case." Specifically, the reforms include improving judicial effectiveness and promoting judicial fairness.

Deepening reform in the judicial system is playing an important role in implementing the rule of law in China, according to Zhou, adding that the performance and efficiency of courts have improved and judicial credibility has strengthened over the past few years.

Broadening information technology applications in judicial matters are also being implemented. Courts of various levels in China are turning themselves into "Smart Courts" to better serve both the people and judiciary, Zhou noted.

Víctor Ticona echoed Zhou as he spoke about the status quo and development of the Supreme Court of Peru, and expressed his wishes for a closer cooperation with China's SPC.
