Since joining the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Chinese government has actively fulfilled international obligations and has strengthened biodiversity protection by applying the rule of law. China has made and revised several laws and regulations in the sector and tries to protect the biodiversity in an all-round way.

The SPC has also set up an adjudication tribunal for environment and resources, a key judicial measure to protect biodiversity.

Since then, courts at different levels in China have developed a common standard concerning environmental resource cases and their multiple disputes settlement mechanisms have been much improved.

Courts in China also judge public interests lawsuits - including those involving wetlands, forests, endangered plants, and migrant bird areas - in accordance with legal procedures and principles.

Jiang noted that the symposium attracted judges and scholars from home and abroad and offered a good platform for discussion and exchanges.
