The Kunming volunteer alliance initiated a book drive in Qianjin Miao Village in Kunming, Yunnan Province early in June.

The activity's slogan was "dive in the sea of books and fly your dreams". The volunteers brought with them over 10,000 books including science, literature, art and study materials loaded in four cars.

The alliance was started last year to help poor rural residents by donating clothes and quilts. When the volunteers noticed the children lacked extracurricular books and had long yearned for a reading room, they proposed to donate books to the village by WeChat. They received a positive nationwide response. Soon good reading materials for teenagers were flowing into Kunming from all over the country.
