The tragic fate of the Paris attack victims

Challenging fate

In the case of Laura, the situation is different.

She had a passion for music and enjoyed going to concerts. Irrespective of when the terrorists had arrived, she would have surely been targeted.

However, in spite of three bullets in the chest, as much in the abdomen, a bullet lodged between a lung and the heart, after a couple of weeks in a coma, she is still alive.

Facing death will allow her to embrace life in all its promise and fullness.

She regained gradually her breath, the wind blowing.

Laura embodies the values of courage and determination. Still standing on Earth, despite the suffering, the tears.

In a certain way, she defies her fate, the gods, and the unknown.

By refusing to be tied with her obvious destiny, she creates her own odyssey.

Being alive, she is headed for a new adventure, where her bravery will help to shape the destiny of the entire universe. A single voice could transform the world.

Give a meaning to the death

We would like to say that the tragic fate of the 130 was not in vain.

“I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value,” recalls Hermann Hesse in his philosophical novel, Siddhartha.

Unfortunately, this comment does not make sense for ordinary mortals. A tragic death is merely a moment of great suffering, distress and despair. In addition, a tragic fate leads to profound and insurmountable pessimism.

In contrast, from the point of view of an organized society, the death of a handful people does not jeopardize its stability nor its survival. But sometimes this is the price to be paid to have peace in the long run and to destroy the evil of terrorism.
