ROK aid group visits flood-stricken DPRK

(Xinhua) Updated: 2012-08-24 11:20

SEOUL - Representatives of a South Korean civic group traveled to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Friday to discuss flood aid with their counterparts north of the border.

Four officials of the Korea NGO Council for Cooperation with North Korea (KNCCK), an association of 51 private aid groups, are scheduled to meet with officials from the DPRK's National Reconciliation Council in the border city of Kaesong.

The meeting, proposed by the KNCCK earlier this month, will involve consultations over providing relief aid to the DPRK where floods reportedly killed 169 people and left 400 missing.

The aid group has said it plans to send relief goods before the Chuseok holidays on September 29-October 1.
