DUSHANBE -- More than 180 kg of drugs were confiscated in a recent joint campaign carried out by Tajikistan and China, Tajik authorities said Thursday.

The batch of drugs seized in the campaign, which ran from Oct. 27 to Nov. 21 last year, consist of 22 kg of heroin, 18 kg of opium and some 140 kg of cannabis, said Rustam Nazarzoda, director of the Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA).

Meanwhile, DCA officers and special police forces from neighboring Afghanistan carried out another four anti-drug operations, stated Nazarzoda, adding that 216.8 kg of drugs were captured during the operations.

A total of 2.287 tons of drugs were confiscated and three heroin producing laboratories destroyed in 17 joint Tajik-Afghan anti-drug operations, he added.

Tajikistan shares a 1,300-km border with Afghanistan, the world's leading opium and heroin producer.
