Facts you need to know
It was the first time that Xi Jinping had observed troops as the country's top leader and delivered a speech atop the Tian'anmen Rostrum.
Xi announced China will cut the number of the country's troops by 300,000, the fourth military cut since the reform and opening-up in 1978.
