This undated photo shows the venue of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai. It was then the residence of Li Shucheng, the older brother of Li Hanjun, a representative to the Congress. On July 23, 1921, the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held at 108 Wantze Road (now 76 Xingye Road) in Shanghai. On July 30, the Congress was forced to move when a search by the police in the French Concession for the meeting place came precariously close, and it was moved to Jiaxing in Zhejiang province, where it resumed and had its last day's meeting on a pleasure boat on South Lake. The First National Congress of the CPC proclaimed the founding of the Communist Party of China. [Photo/cpc.people.com.cn]
